Normally, being known as someone with blinders on is a negative thing. It’s a term that refers to someone who is narrow-minded and doesn’t consider other viewpoints. For some horses, particularly race horses, it is sometimes necessary to put blinders/blinkers over their eyes to keep them from looking back or being distracted by their peripheral vision. Having blinders on keeps their eyes focused on the race course.
Sometimes in life we need blinders to keep our mind and energy focused on a particular goal. Distractions will come in the form of the challenges we face in the course of reaching the goal, and people who don’t want to see your progress (also known as the Haters). While some of these distractions can help our resolve to succeed and keep us on the path of success, it is not unknown that some people have given up their dreams because they hit an obstacle or someone told them it was not achievable.
Whatever it is that you have your heart set on, do your research, work hard, allow only positive feedback and shut out those members of the Haters Club who do not want to see your progress, either because they want to be the only shining stars or they are also hold membership cards in the Misery Loves Company Club.
